Easton High School Habitat Chapter

Members of the Campus Chapter gathered for an ice cream social

at the end of the school year. 


Under the leadership of the following officers, the chapter is planning its busiest year to date! There are over 20 students in the Easton High School Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The 2007-2008 officers are:

President- Steve Stranahan
Vice President- Cat Kearney
Secretary- Chris McElwain
Treasurer-  Katie Schumacher

The chapter advisor is Habitat board member and EHS faculty member, Mr. Ken Popp.

Plans for 2007-2008 include:

1. Become more involved in the community
2. Educate other students about Habitat for Humanity and the importance of giving back to the community
3. Raise awareness about community members in need

Approximately 20 student members contributed 400 hours of volunteer service on the following projects during the 2006-2007 academic year:

  • Purchased landscape plants and trees and planted them at several homes
  • Insulated, painted and help build three houses
  • Walked in several parades and helped at Raise the Roof fundraiser
  • Conducted fall and winter plant sales to buy landscape materials for Habitat families
  • Helped build the House in a Box for Katrina Relief

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sts. Peter & Paul High School

Members of SSPP's Key Club helped us build the House in Box and they regularly support our efforts with a gift to the Foundation Fund!

 

Wye River Upper School

The Wye River Upper School has joined the local high school effort to help Habitat.  In October 2008, a group of students and teachers spent two days working at one of our building sites. 

Tilghman Elementary School's 6th Grade Class helped decorate postcards for a special mailing to supporters of Habitat in the spring of 2007.

Gunston Day School is scheduled to work on the construction site in April and May 2008.

Landon School (DC) is scheduled to work on the construction site for the week of June 9-13, 2008   

Catholic Diocese of Wilmington's Pitcher and Basin Youth Group will return to work with the affiliate in June and July 2008.

Easton High School JR ROTC volunteered with HFHTDC on May 31, 2008.
